Honda Launches New Dio 125 Commuter Scooter
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has recently introduced the Dio 125, a new commuter scooter. The Dio nameplate has gained popularity in the Asian market as a two-stroke-powered scooter. However, the latest Dio model is a modern machine that maintains its compact size and user-friendly design. Let's take a closer look at this new model.
Design and Features
The Honda Dio has always been known for its simplicity, and the current generation model continues this tradition. While it features updated bodywork, the new Dio still offers convenient features. The flat floor allows riders to easily store bags and cargo between their legs. There is also ample under-seat storage for daily essentials and small cubby holes on the front apron for quick-access items. The scooter also includes passenger accommodations with a large one-piece saddle and passenger grab handles for added safety.
Performance
The new Honda Dio is powered by a 125cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine with eSP (Enhanced Smart Power) technology. This provides respectable performance and efficiency, with an output of approximately eight horsepower and seven pound-feet of torque. The Dio 125 is also compliant with 2023 emissions regulations and features a silent ACG starter.
Features and Pricing
In addition to the engine, the Dio 125 offers standard features commonly found in this segment. It has a telescopic fork suspension and a three-step preload-adjustable rear monoshock. The base model comes with drum brakes front and rear, while the higher-end Smart variant has a disc brake in the front. Other tech features include LED lights, an idling stop system, side-stand indicator, and combined braking system. The top-of-the-line Smart version includes keyless ignition and additional security features.
The Dio 125 is available in a variety of color options, including Pearl Siren Blue, Pearl Deep Ground Gray, Pearl Night Star Black, Matte Marvel Blue Metallic, Matte Axis Gray Metallic, Matte Sangria Red Metallic, and Sports Red. The base Standard model is priced at Rs 83,400 (approximately $1,010 USD), while the premium Smart model retails for Rs 91,300 (around $1,128 USD). Honda also offers a 10-year warranty coverage for the Dio 125, providing added peace of mind.
