TVS Motor Company Unveils New Electric Scooter "X"
TVS Motor Company, one of the largest motorcycle manufacturers in India, has revealed its latest electric scooter, simply named "X." This new electric scooter is the most sporty and well-equipped two-wheeler from the Indian manufacturer.
The TVS X was initially introduced as a concept model called the Creon back in 2018. Now, after five years, the electric scooter has been officially unveiled. The TVS X stands out with its futuristic and minimalist design. It has a naked appearance, showcasing the substructures at the center of the scooter. The front of the X features a vertically stacked LED headlight, enhancing its futuristic look.
When it comes to technology, the TVS X boasts a powerful electric motor integrated into the rear swingarm. It reaches a peak power of 11 kilowatts (approximately 14.3 horsepower) and has a top speed of 105 kilometers per hour (65 miles per hour). It also offers rapid acceleration, going from zero to 40 kilometers per hour (25 miles per hour) in just 2.6 seconds. The X is equipped with a RAM air intake that supplies cool air to the electric motor, ensuring sustained performance. Additionally, it offers three ride modes: Xealth, Xtride, and Xonic.
The TVS X is equipped with a 4.44 kilowatt-hour battery pack, providing a claimed range of 140 kilometers (87.5 miles) on a single charge. For convenience, the scooter comes with a fast-charger that allows for 50-percent charging in just one hour. Using a regular wall charger, an 80-percent charge can be achieved in three hours and 40 minutes.
The new TVS X features 12-inch wheels both in the front and rear, making it the first electric scooter in India to have ABS. It also incorporates advanced safety technology such as collision warnings, speeding alerts, anti-theft measures, and geofencing through the Smart Xhield technology. All of these features can be accessed through the scooter's 10.25-inch full-color display, which also enables functions like cruise control, wellness monitoring, gaming, and live video streaming (presumably only available when the scooter is parked).
Bookings for the TVS X electric scooter have already begun, with a price of Rs 249,990 (approximately $3,030 USD) – a relatively premium price compared to other electric scooters on the market. TVS has announced that bookings will start in December 2023, but availability will vary depending on the region.
