Suzuki Announces the Return of GSX-S1000 and GSX-8S Naked Sportbikes for 2024
Suzuki has revealed that the GSX-S1000 and GSX-8S naked sportbikes will be making a comeback in the US market for the 2024 model-year. These models will retain their mechanical and performance features while introducing new color options. Suzuki has faced criticism for its lack of innovation in recent years, but the launch of the GSX-8S and V-Strom 800DE models with a new 776cc parallel-twin engine at EICMA 2022 has put them back in the spotlight. Let's take a closer look at these refreshed bikes.
GSX-S1000
The GSX-S1000 for the 2024 model-year is equipped with a 999cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, inline-four cylinder engine derived from the K5 GSX-R1000. The engine has been tuned for improved road performance and delivers 150 horsepower and 80 pound-feet of torque.
On the technology front, the Suzuki GSX-S1000 features multiple ride modes enabled by a throttle-by-wire system, all of which can be selected through the bike's TFT instrument cluster. The bike is equipped with ABS-equipped Brembo brakes for reliable stopping power and rides on 17-inch wheels. The suspension is fully adjustable KYB equipment.
For the 2024 model-year, the GSX-S1000 is available in the popular Metallic Triton Blue colorway with white accents. There is also a new Metallic Matte Sword Silver option, which adds red accents to the front fairing and tail section for a sporty look. The manufacturer recommended retail price for the GSX-S1000 is $11,699 USD.
GSX-8S
The Suzuki GSX-8S is a lightweight and agile streetfighter option. Although it was unveiled in the global market for the 2023 model-year, it remains largely unchanged for 2024, except for a few cosmetic enhancements. The middleweight naked bike is now available in a new Glass Matte Mechanical Gray paint scheme, in addition to the previously offered Cosmic Blue and Metallic Matte Black No. 2/Glass Sparkle Black options.
For the 2024 model-year, the Suzuki GSX-8S has a manufacturer suggested retail price of $8,999 USD. This bike was designed from the ground up to meet the needs of riders seeking a versatile and sporty naked bike. It features a 776cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, parallel-twin engine with a 270-degree crankshaft that replicates the power and sound of a 90-degree V-twin engine. Additionally, the bike comes with various tech features such as multiple ride modes, traction control, and ABS, all accessible through the bike's large five-inch TFT display.
