Honda Expands Off-Road Racing Program in the UK

Honda has announced that it is expanding its off-road racing program in the UK to include the Honda CRF250R. The brand has had success with the CRF150R Cup for young riders in the European championship. This time, the CRF250R Cup will be open to adult riders in both the amateur and clubmen ranks.

Four brand new bikes will be awarded to the winners of the 2024 racing series. The CRF250R Cup will be divided into two series. One series, called the "Fastest 40 British Motocross Championship," will be part of the MX Nationals series and will feature clubmen riders. Races will be held on Sundays. The other series will be organized by the AMCA as part of the UK championships. Racers can choose which series they want to participate in, as long as they have a Honda CRF250R from the 2021 model-year onwards, supplied by a Honda UK dealer.

In a press release, Honda UK Off Road Sales Manager Graham Foster-Vigors said, "Honda UK has set up this initiative to give Honda riders the opportunity to progress with the support of a manufacturer, whether they are moving up from junior ranks or seeking more competitive racing in existing national championships."

At the end of the 2024 racing season, the winners of each series will receive a brand new Honda CRF250R. Additionally, each series will select a winner of the "Power of Dreams Award," who will also receive a CRF250R. The winner will be chosen by a panel of experts based on their skill level, determination, sportsmanship, and social media presence.

To participate in the 2024 Honda CRF250R Cup, riders must first qualify through their regular AMCA regional race events. The scoring system tracks their performance in their respective race classes and awards points accordingly. Depending on the region, five or six racers will be invited to participate in the CRF250R Cup class.

At the end of each round, the best rider, as determined by a panel of judges, will receive a Fly Helmet to use for the remainder of the season. It is important to note that while any 2021 and newer CRF250R is eligible to compete, buyers of new models from official Honda UK dealers will receive a free Race Pack, including a Fly Racing kit, holeshot device, and care package from Motul. Additionally, the bike comes with a free off-road training day from Fly Racing, featuring instruction from British MX1 Champion Conrad Mewse and three-time World 500 Champion Dave Thorpe.
